Father Clement

The Sacrament of Reconciliation: I have confessions in Syston every first Saturday of the Month at 9.30am and on every third Saturday of the month in Sileby at 9.30am. This is then followed by a short weekday Mass at 10am. You do not have to attend this Mass. Please come whenever you can or any other time if you phone me or send an email telling me when I can celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with you. I will be so happy to see you. For the salvation of our souls, it is very important to receive/celebrate this Sacrament especially during this year of Mercy.

Divine Mercy Sunday 2017

Palm Sunday 2017 Newsletter

Please support our Repository: Many thanks to those who have been supporting our repository and special thanks to Maria Mortimer who has been working so hard to set it up. Before you buy your greetings cards in the shops out there please consider our selection in porch. Planning ahead, we already have Christmas catalogues so you can make your orders in advance. Once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE for all your help and support – about £200 has been raised via repository sales.

Flowers in church More volunteers needed. Please let Father Clement know so he can organise a rota.

CLOSED DRAW APPEAL- This is an important fund raiser for our Parish and for this reason I have already joined. My lucky number is 16.  I would like more people to take a number, please. One number is £1 a week and for those who pay half yearly or yearly it is £26 or £52 respectively. Cheques are payable to: Syston RC Parish Church. For those who want to support, please contact Monica Walling on 01166277162 or Walter Gooding on 01162606259.

Young Parishioners

Youth Cafe in the Methodist Church, High Street, Syston. Has now opened, it is opened from 6.30 until 9pm on Friday evenings. Any young person between the ages of 11 to 19 are welcome, so, why not go along and give it a go.

Liturgy Group

Volunteers Wanted! Would you be able to provide occasional cover playing the organ at the 11am Mass on Sundays? No previous experience necessary as long as you have roughly the equivalent of Grade 5 piano or keyboard skills. Tuition, instruction, advice and guidance will be offered. Please see Greg after 11am Mass if you are interested in finding out more.

Children’s Liturgy We need more volunteers to help run the Liturgy; if we had enough helpers it would only need to cover once every 6 weeks. Can you speak to Sarah if you could spare time to help with this group.

Money Matters

Gift Aid -Any Member of our Congregation currently paying tax on their income could join this effective (and painless) form of fundraising, by weekly Envelope or Standing Order Form, Please contact me Gerald on 07936944073, Father or Monica for a form, thank you Gerald. The STO's for the first quarter of this year 15/16 were £1580.00 and the Gift Aid return from the Tax Office for the 4th Quarter 14/15 was £951.42.

We now have a new display cabinet full of repository items for baptism, first holy communion, confirmation etc as well as a card rack where parishioners can help themselves and deposit the cost of the card in the cash box. For items in the cabinet Maria is usually at all Syston masses so if anyone would like to look at anything they only have to let her know. You will find her in the porch at the end of mass. Her contact details are inside the cabinet should anyone need anything outside of mass times.
Lastly there is a notebook and pen on the card rack (behind the cash box) should anyone like to leave any enquiries that way or any suggestions for future orders. If you leave your contact details, she will get back to you.
